Elise Luttik Launches The Reflection Room
Dutch designer Elise Luttik has collaborated with Newmor to launch The Reflection Room wallcovering collection for hospitality interiors in summer 2026.

Dutch designer Elise Luttik has launched The Reflection Room wallcovering collection in collaboration with Newmor. The collection, released in the summer of 2026, is designed for hospitality interiors and explores themes of reflection and depth through layered patterns.
Luttik's design philosophy centers on materializing illusions. "At the heart of my creations is the art of materializing illusions, capturing fleeting moments in enduring designs," she told Design Insider Live. She approaches briefs from new perspectives, aiming for results that feel unexpected yet familiar.
The starting point was a directive from Newmor's Head of Design and Marketing, Rose Campbell. Campbell told Luttik the collection should be a reflection of the designer herself. Luttik described this as a "blank but also directed canvas." She developed a colour palette and design language translated from her portfolio in product and furniture design.
Translating Depth to Surface
The collection aims to create optical depth on a flat surface. Luttik achieves this by tricking the eye. She uses shadows within the designs or highlights specific parts to make patterns appear three-dimensional. Weaving different layers creates an illusion of elements existing in a three-dimensional space.
Inspiration came from observations made during relaxed holidays. Luttik finds inspiration in the detailed patterns of nature. She notices the structures of trees and leaves, the patterns of moss on stone, or the traces left by a shifting shoreline. She consciously tries to capture and remember these fleeting moments for later use in her design work in the city.
Designing for Atmosphere
For hospitality interiors, Luttik focuses on crafting a specific feeling. The goal is for a guest to feel carried by a room without the design being overly present. It is a subtle sensation. She cites the Summer Breeze design as an example, noting it is meant to remind one of a sunny day and create an uplifted feeling.
Each design in the collection is distinct but part of a cohesive story. All share a sense of layeredness and are inspired by details in nature. A core principle was that all designs should feel connected and could potentially be applied in the same room. This required a balance of colours and patterns, with each design featuring a hero colour to enhance the overall palette.
The collaboration with Newmor was defined by trust, according to Luttik. The company gave her time to develop the designs piece by piece. Extensive sampling at early stages helped the team make strong joint decisions about appearance and tactility. Luttik felt every team member played an important role in the final outcome.
Completing the Collection
The Timber Check pattern proved particularly meaningful and challenging. When five designs were ready, Luttik felt the collection was still missing a wooden vibe that was always part of the colour palette. This final pattern made the collection feel whole, and she considers it one of the strongest pieces.
Luttik hopes the collection influences the atmosphere of a space. She was inspired to create a room that feels layered, where light, material, and perception combine. By adding optical depth and texture to a wall, the space becomes calmer. The atmosphere is gently softened, subtly influencing the experience. Her hope is that the collection invites designers and guests to slow down, reflect, and let their thoughts wander. The launch is featured on supplier platforms for commercial interior fixtures, highlighting its application in professional settings.
