Actiu has unveiled a new generation of its A+S Work task chair collection, with UK availability set for September 2026. The Spanish furniture manufacturer developed the update in collaboration with Alegre Design, focusing on improved ergonomics, material strength, and environmental responsibility.
This evolution aims to create a stronger and more comfortable chair. Actiu is a family-owned company with nearly 60 years of experience specializing in furniture for corporate, contract, healthcare, and educational environments.
Enhanced Structure and Durability
The new A+S Work range incorporates high-density polyamide into its construction. This material provides exceptional mechanical strength, allowing the chair to resist deformation and maintain stability under intensive daily use.
Actiu states the engineering enables each chair to withstand thousands of sitting and standing cycles without developing microcracks. This design significantly extends the product's service life. The Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia has validated the chair's ergonomics, confirming it maintains optimal pressure distribution throughout the workday.
Ergonomic and Sustainable Design
Ergonomics are a central feature of the redesign. The chair offers a fully adjustable seat depth, lumbar support, and armrests to adapt to individual user anatomy. These adjustments are intended to promote a healthy posture.
Sustainability is another key pillar. The new A+S Work collection has achieved LEVEL®2 certification from the European Office Furniture Federation (FEMB). This certification recognizes the product's commitment to sustainability and material health. Actiu designed the chairs to last and to be recycled at the end of their life cycle, aiming for minimal environmental impact.
The collection has already won two major international design awards: the German Design Award and the iF Design Award. Juries praised the balance of innovation, functionality, and user wellbeing.
They highlighted the chair's all-in-one mechanism, which eliminates bulky components to create a lightweight, contemporary structure. The design is described as a refined piece supported by conscientious engineering.
Actiu's own Technology Park in Castalla, Alicante, holds global sustainability and wellness certifications, including LEVELĀ®, LEED Platinum, and WELL Platinum. The company reports it is the first industrial building in the world to hold all three certifications simultaneously. The new A+S Work chair represents the latest product from this facility.
