Labor Day Furniture Sales Guide for 2026
Business Insider's home editor provides advice for buying furniture online and lists the best Labor Day sales on sofas, mattresses, and patio sets.
Labor Day weekend in 2026 offers some of the best furniture discounts of the year. Business Insider's home editor, Jaclyn Turner, provides specific advice for handling online sales. Her goal is to help you avoid costly mistakes.
Turner's first rule is to calculate the "cost-per-use" before purchasing. A daily-use item like a $1,800 sectional used for five years represents better value than a rarely used accent piece. Her second piece of advice is to be skeptical of "washable" covers. They can be difficult to manage. Instead, prioritize stain-resistant fabrics. Finally, she recommends factoring in $150 to $200 for professional white-glove delivery and assembly. This saves personal time and sanity.

| Novogratz Brittany | Faux-leather; cleverly folds into a sleeper sofa; mix of manufactured and solid wood. |
| Sloan Sofa | Structured design; supportive comfort; layered cushion for extra soft feel. |
| Wilder Sleeper Sectional | Oversized; comfortable; classic pull-out design; Tempur-foam mattress. |
| Burrow Nomad Sofa | Modular design; stain- and scratch-resistant olefin fabric; can seat three. |
| Tyler Sofa | Classic mid-century design; custom sizing; over 100 upholstery options. |
| Article Sven | Mid-century modern; tufted seat cushions; $500 off in ivory-gray. |
| Coddle Switch Sleeper Sofa | Converts to a queen-size bed; can fold into a sectional; firm comfort. |
| West Elm Harmony Sofa | Soft and deep; described as a less pricey alternative to the RH Cloud Sofa. |
Turner notes that the velvet options on the Coddle sleeper sofa should be avoided. They attract hair and dust and can cause static shocks. Designer Amber Guyton has the West Elm Harmony Sofa in her home. She calls it super comfortable.
