Buying: GA Group names Scott Hoek VP and head of fixtures, furniture and equipment

Financial advisory firm GA Group has appointed Scott Hoek as its new vice president and head of fixtures, furniture and equipment, or FF&E. The company, which is majority-owned by funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, announced the hire to enhance its asset services.

In this role, Hoek will focus on helping the firm's clients, including retailers, commercial property managers, REITs and institutional clients, optimize and monetize their FF&E assets. He will also work to broaden GA Group's service offerings by providing end-to-end solutions for store openings and remodels in collaboration with the firm's retail, merchant and industrial solutions teams.

Hoek's Industry Background

Scott Hoek brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience to the position. His career spans retail asset recovery, store-fixture liquidation and harvesting, retail decommissioning, warehousing and logistics, project management and national business development. He has built and scaled organizations serving retailers, liquidators, fixture manufacturers, asset-recovery firms and commercial clients.

Before joining GA Group, Hoek served as vice president at another national firm where he launched and grew a national services division focused on fixture liquidation, harvesting, installation, removal, retail decommissioning and recovery-and-resale programs. He previously held senior leadership roles at two other asset disposition firms and founded Fixture Finders, which grew into the largest dealer of used Lozier shelving in the United States.

Leadership's Perspective

Joe Malfitano, president and head of retail, merchant and industrial solutions at GA Group, endorsed the appointment. "Scott is an accomplished builder of businesses, teams, and national service platforms," Malfitano said. He noted Hoek's deep expertise in FF&E optimization and monetization strategies makes him exceptionally well suited to complement the existing teams and to lead this important growth initiative.

Hoek's Statement on the Role

In a statement, Hoek expressed his enthusiasm for the new position. "I am excited to join GA Group and help expand a best-in-class FF&E platform," he said. Hoek highlighted the opportunity to combine strategic business development with operational excellence, asset recovery and sustainable disposition solutions.

He stated he looks forward to working with the team to create measurable value for clients and to establish market leadership in the FF&E space. The appointment is part of GA Group's effort to expand its capabilities in asset disposition and financial advisory services.
